The Duke MBA Workshop for Minority Applicants is designed to give prospective minority MBA students an overview of national MBA programs, introduce them to the fundamental disciplines of management education and provide an in-depth exploration of career opportunities. Student members of Fuqua's Black & Latino MBA Organization serve as hosts for the three-day workshop. Many Fuqua alumni return to share their educational and professional insights with participants.
Participants attend representative first-year classes to become familiar with the functional areas, curriculum and teaching methods in a graduate management program. Members of the Admissions staff share information on matching prospective students' specific needs and abilities with various MBA programs, and provide insight into the application process. The Director of Financial Aid explains financing options for graduate education. Career Services and Placement staff members discuss career planning and post-MBA opportunities, and Fuqua alumni discuss the role of the MBA in their own career development.
The weekend includes time for participants to talk informally with current students, faculty and alumni, as well as to tour the facilities at Fuqua and other parts of the Duke University campus. Participants also hear from prominent members of the business community.
The 2009 Duke MBA Workshop is scheduled to begin November 19, 2009. Participation is limited and by invitation only. The Fuqua School extends approximately 80 invitations each year. Specific application details will be available by September 2009. For information about past workshops, please click on this link...
