Major EVCC Events for 2007-2008

Venture Capital/Entrepreneur in Residence Match Day – First-year students are given the opportunity to give a brief pitch to a group of local venture capitalists that are looking for interns to work at their venture capital firms and with portfolio companies.  This program is associated with the mentored internship program. 

VC 101 – This is a workshop for all students interested in venture capital that explains how VC works and potential career paths available in the industry. 

VC’s Around the Keg – Local VC’s answer student questions in an informal setting.  

Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) – First-year and second-year students create teams to compete in a unique event that allows students to evaluate real business investment opportunities.  The five member teams compete at Fuqua to represent the school in the regional and national competitions

Week-In-Cities - Students travel to venture capital firms in the Northeast and on the West Coast. 

Dine & Discuss – Students have lunch with successful entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. 

TEAM UP –Students from Duke, UNC, and NC State are teamed up to act as angel investors to evaluate local investment opportunities. 

e-Conference – Students attend presentations by successful entrepreneurs and can ask questions during panel discussions with entrepreneurs and alumni. 

Speaker Series – Entrepreneurs share their insights with students regarding their experiences in starting organizations.
