Events
- To assist First-Years in evaluating opportunities in finance, the Fuqua Finance Club sponsors the following events:
- Finance Symposium - This event will have speakers from Investment Banking, Research, Portfolio Management, and company based Corporate Finance. The goal is to educate you about the respective fields and the opportunities available in finance.
- Week on Wall Street - This event occurs over Fall break, allowing first-year students to visit the headquarters office of nearly all the top New York Investment Banks. The program is well attended, with over ninety participants last year, and is an excellent way to get to meet many alumni and company representative who will be back to interview in Term 3.
- Day in Charlotte - Much like Week on Wall Street, but focusing primarily on the firms located just a two-hour drive away.
- Resume and Cover Letter Reviews - In addition to the assistance provided by the
Career Management Center, the Finance Club will sponsor review sessions to help students tailor their correspondence to fit the finance industry.
- Finance Case Competitions - Finance club members have had the opportunity to participate in the various case competitions including Kellogg Restructuring Case Competition, McCombs Energy/Finance Case Competition, Merrill Lynch Valuation Case Competition, Wachovia/UNC Corporate Finance Case Competition, and Tepper Corporate Finance Case Competition.
- Workshops - The Finance Club will partner with multiple corporate sponsors to provide additional instruction in valuation, interviewing, and modeling. These events help you to get to know the company representatives and prepare yourself for the interview season and summer internships.
- Others - There are also panel discussions, selected speakers, breakfasts with recruiters, lunches with faculty members and other informal interactions among the members.
