2005 Leadership Experience Workshops
"Straight to the Top: Emotional Intelligence"
You aced the GMAT. Great, but you aren't alone. Clearly you've got what it takes to be at a top business school, but now how are you going to rise to the next level and beyond? Join instructors from West Point's Dept of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership to discuss how leaders can use emotional intelligence to elevate their leadership of teams in risky situations. The instructors will bring in personal examples from military combat, where risky situations become an issue of life and death.
"Manipulation 101: When Logic Fails and Emotions Dominate"
How often have you found yourself in a situation where your most logical arguments are completely ineffective? Stever Robbins, the author of It Takes a Lot More than Attitude...To Lead a Stellar Organization, is leading a workshop entitled "Manipulation 101". The workshop teaches people how to be persuasive, through the use of various framing and positioning techniques, in situations where logic is ineffective and/or emotions dominate.
"Creativity + Innovation = Entrepreneurial Success"
Andy is one of the most disruptive leaders in business. A visionary entrepreneur, Andy was leading the world's top companies to take audacious risks in the areas of creativity and innovation long before these became buzz words of the consulting industry. For the past fifteen years, Andy has pushed his organization and its clients to take audacious risks with their brands, cultures and business strategies. In a dynamic, interactive session, Andy will share stories, methods and tools used to inspire risk-taking and change. Jump in: New perspectives lie ahead.
"Values - Collision and Navigation Contested Terrain”
Your values are your internal compass to navigate through defining moments.
They are the foundation of who you are as a person and as a leader. In this interactive workshop, you will be challenged to prioritize your values when placed in a situation where your values may conflict with those of others. Let's say you are in a burning building and to your left are 3 young children, and to your right is your daughter. You can only rescue the group of three or your daughter. What do you do? What if you need to decide whether to take the world's largest retailer into banking? What do you do?
How will you respond if your values conflict with those of your company? What if they conflict with those on your team? In this workshop, you will experience how your values influence your decision-making as well as how to manage conflicts of values that arise in the business environment.
This exiting hands-on workshop will be facilitated by Professor Francisco Benzoni. Benzoni received his Ph.D. in Ethics from the University of Chicago. He taught Business Ethics at New York University's Stern School of Business before coming to Duke University, where he currently teaches Ethics in Management at the Fuqua School of Business. His research interests focus especially on business ethics and ecological ethics.
"Leadership under fire: Translate battleground risks into business success"
In this workshop five highly decorated special operations leaders will comprise an expert panel that explains how their riskiest leadership experiences in the battlefield have translated into business success. |
