What is the MBA Games Weekend?
The Games are what's sure to be one of the best parts of your MBA experience. Come down to Durham April 4th - 6th, 2008, and represent your school as you compete against other tops schools. Come ready for a whole lot of fun and a whole lot of inspiration. You'll have a chance to meet and compete with some amazing Special Olympians. Also, come ready for a cheer-off, a foosball tournament, and an Ocean Cruise that you won't want to miss. Register for the 2008 MBA Games..

"On the way back from Duke, it hit me - that these were the kind of experiences I had come back to b-school for...It reminded me of how lucky I am that I'm able to participate in these kind of activities, and was a refreshing change from the normal b-school bubble we all live in." – Helen Chiang, Wharton '05

To learn more about the 2008 MBA Games Weekend, review the frequently asked questions below.  If you have any questions, contact Kate Lyden and Lesley Roxe.

What do I have to pay for?
You (or your school) needs to get you down here, and then we'll house you, feed you, and transport you during the weekend.

But, if you're interested in playing a round of golf on Friday, you'll have to cover the $75 greens fee per player.

"We went, we played, we conquered. In the process, we learned none of that mattered more than what we were really there for...New challenges were met and some new friends made. Most importantly, we all went away proud of our award and humbled by the strength of the Special Olympians alongside whom we had the privilege of competing."
– Boris Siperstein, Wharton '04

When should I get there?
Most participants arrive on Friday. However, if you're interested in playing a round of golf on Duke's awesome Washington Duke Golf Course, please arrive in Durham by Thursday night because of an early tee time on Friday morning.

Where will I stay?
Talk to your school's team captains. We've been in contact with them to work out logistics regarding housing and transportation.

When should I leave?
Shoot to leave at anytime on Sunday.

Information for Team Captains
A few pieces of information for the team captains:

  • T-shirts -- Each team should bring t-shirts with their school name for the competition on Saturday.  Please bring 5-6 extras for your Special Olympic athletes.

  • Golf -- If any members of your team are planning to play golf on Friday morning, please make sure they arrive by Thursday because of early tee times.

What to Bring?
For the weekend, plan to bring your golf gear (if you're golfing), a swimsuit, some running/tennis shoes for Saturday's events, and a business casual outfit for the Saturday night banquet.

"It’s a weekend of the requisite silliness that comes from bringing together about eighty students from some big league MBA programs, and pitting them against one another in various competitive events. All was done to benefit the Special Olympics of North Carolina and each team had about three amazing Special Olympics Athletes attached to them to help out the truly challenged athletes from the MBA program." – Gaby Bolton, Columbia '05

Arrival/Check-in Instructions
Check-in will occur Friday night at Fuqua. At that time, we'll ask you to sign the Weekend waiver and give you all the information you need to get through the weekend.

Your arrival will be coordinated with your school's liaison (see below). Please work with your team captain and your liaison to arrange airport or key pickup.
