
Fuqua 2006 Annual Stock Pitch Competition
Introduction
The Asset Management Club and the Global Capital Markets Center is organizing its Second Annual AMC Stock Pitch Competition on Oct 27, 2006 in order to provide a venue for students to practice stock pitches under realistic conditions. The competition replicates the fast-paced, demanding real-life experience of analysts and asset managers. Participant’s performance will be judges by some of the top executives from this field.
The winners will represent Fuqua at Cornell University’s Stock Pitch Competition or Kenan Flagler Alpha Challenge. The winners will be competing with some of the best schools including Kellogg, Ross, University of Chicago, and Stern among others

Competition Logistics & Rules
The AMC Stock Pitch Competition is an individual event. All Fuqua students can participate in the competition. The winners will form the team which will represent Duke University in either of the two national level University competitions.
Preliminary Round
- On Monday, October 23rd, all participants will be informed of the universe of stocks available for recommendation (5-10). From the list a participant ca n pick any one stock.
- Participants must decide whether to present a long (buy) or a short (sell) recommendation on the stock.
- Each participant has to submit a one page investment thesis word document on his/her stock transaction by Wednesday Oct 25th at 6:00 PM.
- A group of Second year Fuqua students will read through these theses on Wednesday night and select the best 10-12 participants.
- The finalists will be informed by Thursday morning 9.00 AM.
The selected 10-12 participants will prepare a PowerPoint presentation not exceeding 15 slides by the morning of Friday Oct 27th by 9AM.
Final Round
- The participants will present before the panel of judges on Friday, October 27th from 12 Noon to 3.00 PM.
- Each participant will have 6 minutes to present and then there will be 5 minutes of Q&A.
- Students competing at each stage of the competition will not be allowed to view the presentations of the other students.
- Once all the pitches are complete, the panel of judges will decide the winners.
The judges' will judge the pitches on the basis of the quality of the analysis and the presentation delivery. In addition, the judges will evaluate the choice of the stock itself and the stock selection process from the universe provided.

09:00 AM Announcement of twelve finalists

9:00 AM Submission of all PowerPoint presentations by finalists.
11:00 PM Arrival of distinguished judges to Fuqua School of Business. Distinguished judges meet over Luncheon and review provided materials of stocks being pitched.
12:00 – 3 PM Competition starts and pitches continue till 3 PM.
3:30 PM Winners of the AMC Stock Pitch competition announced.
3.30 - 4.30 PM Cocktail reception sponsored by the Global Capital Markets Center for all in the Winter Garden. Opportunity to interact with Judges.
